What would it look like if we actually believed the words in scripture that say children are a blessing from the Lord?
“Children are a blessing and a gift from the Lord.”
Psalm 127:3 CEV
How would we talk to them?
Would we honour their opinions, thoughts, insights, and observations more?
If we let that truth sink so deep into our hearts, how many kids would we have?
How would we change our lives to prioritize their discipleship? Their development? Their growth?

If we believed that children are a physical blessing from the Creator of the universe, would fear diminish in the ones afraid to start a family?
Don’t you see that children are God’s best gift? The fruit of the womb his generous legacy?
Psalm 127:3 MSG
If we believed really, truly that children are a love gift from the Lord, would we feel we have to everything perfect in our lives to welcome one, or would we just receive?
Children are God’s love-gift; they are heaven’s generous reward.
Psalm 127:3 TPT
Would we feel pressure that we can only have a child if we can save enough for their university degree, give them their own bedroom, and put them in whatever sports they want to play?
Would the mess scare us less?

Would we simply let go, receive and surrender to the blessings God wants to bestow?
When I feel stressed about raising kids I continue to feel the Lord ask me if I would feel stressed about any other area of blessing? If he handed me extra money would I feel anxious? Or what if an angel showed up with the papers to a beautiful, entirely paid for, new house? Or perhaps someone stops by with a meal after my baby is born? Would that cause me anxiety?
No…I’d just receive the blessing. I might wonder how to steward the blessing well. I might feel like I could never thank the person enough. But I definitely would receive it.
Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.
Psalm 127:3 NLT
There is work to be done in raising kids. Yes, there is so much hard work. But it all changes when I remind myself of the Word of God. Children are a gift. They are not a burden. They are not a test. They are not a trial to endure until you empty your nest.
They are sent straight from the Father, and my main job is to enjoy the blessing that they are.

Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.
Psalm 127:3 NIV
